Biography

Caleb Stewart is a shareholder at Oseran Hahn P.S. and his law practice focuses on churches and nonprofit organizations, civil litigation, estate planning, probate and business law and is admitted to practice law in California and Washington. His license is also pending in Missouri.

Caleb leads our firm’s national church and nonprofit law practice. Nearly his entire family (three generations) are currently serving in ministry, and Caleb considers his work with churches and nonprofit organizations as crucial to his calling as an attorney. He is called to serve churches and help them thrive in an increasingly secular culture. He has dedicated his practice to serving churches and Christian organizations of all denominations and sizes, ensuring their legal affairs are in order so they can focus on their work spreading their message, serving their communities and preserving and growing thriving ministries. Caleb’s church law practice serves clients nation-wide, including churches, k-12 schools, universities, camps and an array of parachurch and auxiliary ministries. He works as outside general counsel by providing day-to-day legal advice and serves as a vital member of ministry team(s), speaking the language of ministry with a deep understanding of the mission, vision and values of the churches he represents.

Whether a complex civil litigation case, a nonprofit filing, a church merger or a family estate plan, Caleb takes the time to understand his client, their goals, and the things they value so that he can represent them—and their interests— as fervently and effectively as possible. Caleb has benefitted from broad opportunities, successfully litigating cases in federal and state courts across the nation, continually serving as outside general counsel for businesses, nonprofits and families from coast-to-coast.

Caleb graduated Magna Cum Laude from Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, California with a B.A. in Intercultural Communication. He graduated with honors from Whittier Law School and received several awards for academic achievement. Caleb speaks regularly across the nation on a range of issues, hosting so-called “Coffee with Counsel” events. Prior to joining Oseran Hahn, he worked at a boutique firm in San Juan Capistrano, California before moving back to the Pacific Northwest, the place where he grew up.

Caleb loves spending time with his wife and growing family. A sports enthusiast and avid outdoorsman, his favorite pastime is coaching up his kids and exploring the outdoors. He also loves comic books (even before it was “cool” to do so) and has an extensive comic book collection. When he grows up, he hopes to be a superhero.
